Public hearing to discuss changing elected positions to appointed for recorder and auditor/treasurer

The Wadena County Commissioners held a public hearing on December 7 to discuss appointing the county auditor/treasurer and recorder positions rather than keeping them as elected positions.
If passed, the current officeholders would be appointed to the positions when their terms expire.
County Coordinator/Engineer Ryan Odden listed the responsibilities of these offices citing job descriptions from other counties with appointed positions, ranging from running elections, balancing budgets, real estate transfers, etc.
As of now, these two positions are filled by the election process and are halfway through their current terms. . .
