For the second week in a row, the Eagle Valley Football Team played well enough to win, by costly turnovers, for the 1-6 Rebels. Three fumbles and two interceptions stopped drives in some cases and they gave the ball to the Tigers at the 25-yard line on another play.

A series of accidents have occurred in the community during the past two weeks. One of them took place on September 30 when Don Morcomb, driving his two-ton implement truck, was entering the village from the west when he discovered his breaks had failed. He attempted to slow the vehicle down by using the truck’s transmission, but when he did not succeed he sounded the horn to alert motorists and pedestrians of his plight. However, near the bridge on Main Street, his truck struck a car driven by Ted Diedrich which was also traveling east, damaging the left rear fender of the car. The truck was brought to a halt with no further incidents. No personal injuries were reported.
