Janel Rising, daughter of Larry and Jean Rising of Eagle Bend, and Nick Holmquist, son of Steve and Peggy Holmquist of Clarissa, were crowned 1995 Eagle Valley Snow Days queen and king Monday night. The couple will reign over the week-long festivities.

The senior lip sync took first place. Scott Johnson, Justin Voge, Chad Piepho and Mike Adamietz performed to “Shake Baby Shake.”
Eagle Valley Snow Days Emcees Eric Rolfes and Laurie Brekke took the audience on a stroll down memory lane with “remember when.”
50 Years Ago
February 12, 1970
Army Private Jerome C. Gjerstad of Company B, 3rd Batallion, 1st Brigade has scored “expert” with the M-14 rifles in Fr. Bragg, NC. He achieved his “expert’s badge” by hitting 50 or more targets out of a possible 84 while firing on the training center’s firing range. Private Gjerstad is the son of Mrs. Roy Gjerstad of Eagle Bend. He is married to Margaret LaFond now residing in Minnapolis.

Residents of Eagle Bend School District No. 790 again have the opportunity to learn more about consolidation at a public meeting which has been called by the school board for Thursday evening, February 12. The meeting has been called for 8 p.m. and is open to anyone wishing to hear the state’s version of consolidations as well as those with questions they wish to have answered.
