Storm causes extensive damage
The Lonnie Marcyes home was left unscathed, but their year old pole shed was demolished when a storm hit the Browerville area on Wednesday, July 8 around 5:45 a.m. Marcyes said that in speaking with Emergency Management Director Mike Wisniewski, he believes it was straight line wind with micro-bursts (narrow path of straight line winds). That hasn’t been confirmed by the National Weather Service at this time, however. Contrary to some rumors, the roof of the shed is not in the lake, but it is about 865 feet from the building site. Some of the poles for the shed were snapped off and parts of the shed could be seen in the tree-line behind the house. There was also tree damage around the area as well as Center Pivot Irrigation systems tipped over due to excessive winds.
