Taking to the skies with Grandpa at her side
One day after receiving a private pilot’s license (PPL), 18-year-old Eva Kimball of Glenwood took to the air with her most precious passenger, her beloved grandfather, 85-year-old Lawrence Klemek of Eagle Bend.
Kimball always wanted to fly, however as a child, her plans were to jump off the house and figure out how to flap her arms and soar in the sky like the birds!
Her interest in commercial aviation began at the age of 10 after receiving an airplane ride over Glenwood through Alexandria Aviation.
At the age of 16, she began heavily planning for her future and enrolled as a full-time post-secondary student at Alexandria Technical and Community College. She was on the Dean’s List and graduated in 2020 with a 3.95 college GPA and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree. She also graduated from Minnewaska Area High School with a 4.011 GPA.
She had originally planned to attend the University of North Dakota (UND) to become a nurse practitioner, and she chose this major after considerable research in regards to the field and the amount of schooling it involved. She also determined that it would be a more practical career choice if she was going to want a family someday. . . .
