Todd County Board of Commissioners: No sale because of DNR review
by Karin L. Nauber
“It is a formality,” said Auditor/Treasurer Denise Gaida to the board of commissioners as they considered a resolution to allow the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to review and approve the properties for the public sale.
According to Minnesota Statute, certain classifications of tax-forfeited properties are subject to the approval of the DNR before releasing for public sale.
Of the 35 parcels that were forfeited for non-payment of taxes on July 9, 2021, there is one parcel identified as requiring the DNR’s specific approval.
After three calls for a motion, the action failed.
“These will have to be resubmitted [at the next board meeting] or none of them will be saleable,” said Gaida.
The specific property that needs DNR review is Lots 3 and 4 Block 1 of Thom’s River Acres.
