Trailer house and tractor fire a few miles apart
On April 7, the Hewitt Fire Department and Wadena Fire Department responded to a trailer house fire at 3:30 p.m., at the Kris Kyar residence on 640th Avenue in rural Hewitt. The trailer was unoccupied and used for storage. It was a total loss along with a fifth wheel camper. The garage received exterior damage as well as a Yamaha ATV. The fire was suspected to have been electrical. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. They were on the scene until 5 p.m. During that time, at 4:45 p.m., the Hewitt Fire Department was called three miles away to the Baker residence on Highway 210 for a tractor fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. The tractor was a total loss and windows were melted on a nearby shed.
