Verndale City Council: Plans to plant new trees in park, liquor store roof needs replacing

The Verndale City Council held their regular meeting on January 13.
Clif Allen with Moore Engineering was not able to attend the meeting and submitted a letter saying work is proceeding at a steady pace. The water tower design is complete and has been submitted to the Minnesota Health Department and USDA Rural Development for review. Both have replied with questions, comments and requirements that are being handled. They have yet to receive approval for authorization to begin bidding.
Approved a partial payment to Eagle Construction for $156,131. Approved an invoice from Moore Engineering for $10,000. Approved the loan resolution for the water tower for $261,000. Approved the right-of-way certificate for the proposed water tower location.
Fire Chief Mike Madsen shared the new officers: Assistant Chief Steve Schmitz, Second Assistant Chief Louis Wegscheid, First Captain Nate Witthuhn, Second Capitan Tyler Fisher, Lieutenant Keith Weiher and Safety Officer Erick Anderson. The officers were approved.
Approved the purchase of a dehumidifier using money from the truck account for $1949.
Approved the purchase of a 2200 watt portable generator for $1000.
Calls for 2019 included 32 fire calls for a total of 59 hours and 54 medical calls for 54 hours.
The Wadena Police Department submitted a letter to the fire department praising Fireman John Rousslang. . . .
