Wadena County Commissioners: County buildings reopening June 15, campgrounds open
by Trinity Gruenberg
The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on June 2.
Reopening County Buildings
County Coordinator/Engineer Ryan Odden recommended opening the county buildings on June 15. That would give them time to finalize internal policies for the staff and implement the procedures. He calculated 113 square foot per person as per CDC guidelines and came up with 28 people, non-employees, at one time in the public areas of the building with the exception of a family unit.
Guest passes would be handed out to those entering the building to help manage the number of people inside the building. This would include those coming for court hearings and related business.
County Attorney Kyra Ladd explained the courts will continue having remote and virtual hearings and staggering in-person hearings. They don’t have to worry about the court being full and using all the passes.
“This is a starting point. We are trying to get business back to normal,” said Odden.
The board of review will be held on June 15 and is by appointment only.
Reopening plans are also modeled after MDH recommendations. Sean Uselman is the safety officer and can install barriers between desks and has proper cleaning supplies.
They are asking for staff and the public to wear masks in the public areas. Screening guidelines will be in place.
It was approved to open June 15.
Traffic at the Fairgrounds
Commissioner Sheldon Monson explained the fair board has asked people to slow down and stop driving through the fairgrounds as they are not city roads. . . .
