Wadena County Commissioners Emergency operation center activated

The Wadena County Commissioners held a meeting on March 24. Commissioners Jim Hofer, Chuck Horsager and Bill Stearns joined remotely. Commissioners Jon Kangas and Sheldon Monson were in house. Internet, Cell Service Issues Dave Hotchkiss, IT director, shared that they have been having issues with online conferences due to high usage. The IT department has been monitoring the bandwidth and is working with West Central. “Imagine a pipe big enough for 100 gallons of water to travel through and we are going to need to put 500 gallons of water through that pipe. It’s not going to happen,” explained Hotchkiss. He explained cell carriers and circuits are getting overloaded as more people are working remotely and staying at home. COVID-19 Update Cindy Pederson, public health director, updated the board on the current cases. She explained the state interviews people on their county of residence for positive test results and not all interviews have been completed. Pederson said the Mayo Clinic has ramped up testing and can do 3000 a day. . . . .
