Wadena County Commissioners: Should we utilize in-house personnel or hire?
by Trinity Gruenberg
The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on August 11.
Ryan Odden, county coordinator/engineer, discussed staffing for the screening station and asked other departments to help fill in as there were some gaps in coverage.
Some departments are stepping up, while others say they are not available to help.
Odden would like to create two temporary part-time positions to help cover the gaps. It would be funded by the CARES Act.
Commissioner Bill Stearns asked about using bailiffs. Odden hadn’t talked to the sheriff’s department about it yet. Chief Deputy Joe Schoon said they are getting ready to start up in-person hearings again, beginning September 14. Most of the bailiffs have other full-time jobs and work as a bailiff part-time. . . .
