Skidsteer causes barn blaze killing several cows

According to the Bertha Fire Department, on Sunday, February 25, at 10 p.m., a barn fire was reported at the Linn Smith residence, 41034 County Road 1 in rural Bertha. A skidsteer parked in a shed attached to the barn had started on fire. Fire crews were able to save many beef cattle; several cows perished. The barn sustained minor damage, but the shed was a total loss. The Bertha and Eagle Bend Fire Departments were on the scene until 12:23 a.m.
