On May 29, a severe thunderstorm rolled in at approximately 2:30 p.m. Warnings were issued for Wadena County with radar indicating damaging 60-75 mile per hour winds and quarter sized hail.

The locations impacted by the storm included Sebeka, Verndale, Staples Airport, Huntersville, Nimrod, Aldrich and Blue Grass.

The storm caused a power pole to snap approximately five miles north of Verndale on County Road 23. Verndale Tire lost a lean-to shed. The debris broke off a power pole and caused twisted power lines and a power outage for some homes for several hours.

The severe thunderstorm warning was cancelled at about 4 p.m.
