Over $1 million in taxes prepaid

In a typical year, Todd County Auditor/Treasurer Denise Gaida said that her office will see $50,000-$60,000 in prepaid real estate taxes.

However, it’s a little different this year. 

Gaida said, “As of December 31, 2017 we collected $998,860.95 in 2018 Prepaid Real Estate Taxes. With online credit card payments we are well over a million dollars that has been collected.”

But why did people around the United States rush to prepay their property taxes this year?

Gaida said, “Under President Trump’s New Tax Laws there was a benefit for people to take advantage of paying their 2018 property taxes in 2017...”
