After contentious discussion, the board approved—three to two—the lease agreement on the Expo building to the Long Prairie Hockey Association for one season.
The lease agreement with the Long Prairie Hockey Association for 2016 through 2018 has expired.
The Long Prairie Hockey Association has expressed interest in renewing the agreement.
On September 18, commissioners held discussion regarding the renewal.
Chair Randy Neumann said that he had contacted the Runestone Community Center and found that the school district there pays $79,000 for the rental of the building for the hockey season.
He also called Sauk Centre and they have two contracts—one with the youth hockey and one with the high school—for five years at approximately $39,000 annually from each entity.
He said he didn’t call Wadena.
“Three thousand dollars is not cutting it in Todd County,” said Neumann.
Three thousand dollars is the amount the LPHA pays to the county for rental of the Expo building. . . .
