Verndale City Council: Liquor store survey shows split community

    The Verndale City Council held a special meeting on October 15 to review the results of the liquor store survey.

    There were 356 surveys mailed out with the water bill and several people stopped into the city hall  to fill one out. 

    There were 112 surveys returned. One survey was not completed.

    “Actually, it’s better than the primary,” joked Member Jim Akerman.

    At the August city council meeting an individual approached asking if they would consider selling the liquor store. A public hearing was held on August 28. At the hearing, the people asked that a survey be sent to the residents of Verndale. The survey had to be returned to the city office by October 15. . . .
