Wadena County Commissioners—Preliminary levy increases by 2.81%

The Wadena County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting on September 24 at the Wadena County Courthouse. 

2020 Preliminary Levy

County Coordinator Ryan Odden reviewed  the preliminary levy at $9,323,053, an increase of 2.81 percent.

Odden explained there were two increases in revenue due to labor costs and changes in the sheriff’s office budget. 

A full-time position and three squad cars are budgeted for next year. 

Discussions with Enterprise for vehicles continues. Depending on the outcome of the discussions, it could have an impact on the budget.

Commissioner Jim Hofer reviewed the budget and shared that Human Services comes in at $1 million and after crunching numbers all summer, it became a $229,000 increase. The legislature gave them extra program aid used to bring the levy down a percent and a half. . . .
