The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on October 1 at the Wadena County Courthouse.
Internet at the
Transfer Station
Dave Hotchkiss, IT director, discussed Internet for the transfer station. The current Internet does not work well and the staff has issues using it to do their work and resort to using their cell phones to look up information.
West Central Telephone Association (WCTA) proposed to bury fiber lines that would cost $32,000 and asked the county to pay for $10,000. The monthly bill would be $99.45 for a 100mb Internet connection and one telephone line. WCTA would be okay with the $10,000 coming out of two separate budget years.
Hotchkiss added they are currently paying over $200 per month with the current provider. Chris McConn, director of the Prairie Lakes Municipal Solid Waste Authority, added the solid waste committee was in favor and recommended the new plan.
The commissioners approved the project and the two payments out of the 2019 and 2020 budgets. . . .
