State Team Tournament
The Wolves incredible wrestling season came to an end at the Xcel Energy Center over the weekend. The Wolves were the number 3 seed and third ranked team in Class A entering the State Tourney.
LPGE-Browerville opened with a 43-13 win over eventual 6th place finisher, Blackduck-Cass Lake/Bena in the State Quarterfinals. The Wolves won ten matches to the Bears four. Carter Meiners, Landon Gode, Mason Gode, Riley Thom, Keegan Cavallero and Devin Lange picked up bonus point victories in the dual. Austin Carr, Thomas Pesta, Dalton Butler and Hans Holmquist picked up decision wins.
Next up was the State Semifinal against perineal power and second ranked Frazee. The dual was a back and forth affair with the Wolves leading 20-19 after the 170 pound match. The Hornets would close out the dual winning the last four matches and securing a spot in the State Championship winning 38-20.
In the third place match the Wolves fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton-Westbrook-Walnut Grove, 38-18. The Wolves again kept it close in this back and forth dual, but TMBWWG would win the final six matches to secure the dual 38-18. . . .
