On February 26, at around 8:25 p.m., officers from the Staples Police Department were dispatched to Lakewood Health System, County Road 83, in the city of Staples, for a report of a vehicle that had driven through the emergency room entry doors. It was also reported that the driver had sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Upon arrival, officers found that the driver was already receiving medical treatment from hospital staff. No additional injuries were reported.

Verndale was never able to get into a fluid rhythm, and they shot 18%, while the Tigers shot 36%. The Pirates were able to convert at the free throw line, hitting 17 of their 20 attempts.
