Bears sweep Swanville in three-set victory The Bertha-Hewitt Bears defeated Swanville 3-0 on Monday, Oct. 5, earning a straight-set victory. Kendal Beyatt led the Bears’ offense with 11 kills on 35 attacks, while Ellyana Braaten recorded nine kills on 22 attacks with a .318 hitting percentage. After five competitive sets, Nevis edged Browerville-Eagle Valley for a 3-2 victory, winning 25-22, 9-25, 22-25, 25-23 and 15-12. Pirates Defeat the Wolves 3-1 The Verndale volleyball team began their week at home battling the WHA Wolves. The Pirates got out to an early lead, but the Wolves were able to gain some momentum late in the set to lift them over the Pirates by a score of 25-23.
