Girls’ Basketball lost a pair of games last week to tough opponents in Menahga and Wadena. On Tuesday, they hosted Menahga and found themselves down early by 20 to start the game. Still, the Bears played strong late in the first half and early in the 2nd half, keeping it a 20-point game for most of the way before Menahga pulled away even more at the end to make it a 40-77 loss for the Bears... The boys’ Basketball team played one game last week, thanks to yet another lovely winter storm this past Tuesday. So on Friday night, they headed to Menahga for a conference match with the Braves. The Bertha-Hewitt boys basketball team has had a challenging start to December, struggling against strong competition. On December 4, the Bears fell to Henning 86-26. The team shot just 28% from the field, including 35% on two-pointers and 0% from three-point range. The Bertha-Hewitt girls basketball team faced a challenging early stretch of the season with four games over a five-day span, showing steady effort and growth despite mixed results. On Dec. 2, the Bears dropped a tight game to Henning, 61–58. Bertha-Hewitt battled on the glass with 58 rebounds and added 11 assists, 13 steals, and six blocks. by Coach Austin Selvey The Bertha-Hewitt Bears opened the gym doors to 25 student-athletes on the first day of practice, signaling the start of what we hope is an exciting basketball season. This year’s squad returns seven seniors and six players with varsity experience, bringing strong leadership and continuity to the program. The senior class includes Trenton Becker, Quintin Flynn, Rowan Hauer, Henry Lockwood, Logan Nelson, Brady Rach, and Isaac Radniecki. The Bears will
