Big Changes Coming to Wadena Roads—What Drivers Must Know

Just a heads up—due to a needed schedule change, Hwy. 71 north of Hwy 10. will not close or detour on June 16, as originally planned. We will keep you posted and send another update when we have a more definitive date to share.

The landscape along Hwy. 10 already looks different where mulapreparing the area for the new westbound lanes.

Other work in progress: relocating utilities and demolishing or moving buildings on the right of way. Please use caution when navigating through the work zones; watch for slow trucks entering and exiting work areas.

2025 impacts and detours

You’ll see a lot of changes as you navigate the Wadena work zones. Access to local roads and adjacent connections will change, so always follow the road signs.

There will be multiple detours and some will happen at the same time. Generally, each work zone will have one lane open in each direction. Be prepared for narrow lanes, lane shifts, and flaggers.

Highway 10 detour (July 8 to late August)

Hwy. 10 will be closed to through traffic between Hwy. 71 and Otter Tail Co. Rd. 75 to replace poor soils, install drainage pipes and build a portion of the new roadway....
