Car Strikes Horses on Highway 71

A Menahga man was injured Sunday night, September 20, after a vehicle struck two horses on Highway 71 in Bertha Township.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2009 Toyota Avalon was traveling northbound on Highway 71 near mile marker 211 at about 9:21 p.m. when it struck two horses.

The driver, Rachael Elizabeth Pietila, 40, of Menahga, was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. Her passenger, Nicholas Jerome Hill, 49, also of Menahga, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Hill was transported to Astera Hospital...
