The Wadena County Fairgrounds has been undergoing a drainage project since October 1 to correct the run-off issues from Highway 10.
Commissioners Bill Stearns and Sheldon Monson lobbied the state for more funds for Highway 10 and received $5 million to help with construction. The run-off from Highway 10 was improperly draining into the fairgrounds. Part of these funds was used to correct this drainage issue, coming in just under $1 million.
The midway area now has a storm sewer to collect the drainage and gravity feed it to a lift station in the middle of the fairgrounds that will pump the water to the north to a retention pond that was built for this purpose. . .
