Energy and Environment plan moves toward selecting final projects

The third of four meetings to review the Energy and Environment plan was held at the Hewitt City Hall on Monday, February 28. Council Members Gloriann Bartels and Alex Weego, Mayor Miles Wiirre, Jim Opelia and Jim Walker were in attendance.

Region Five Planner Erica Bjelland, Mn GreenCorps Member Brendan Lee-Gilligan and BJ Allen Principal PMP, JBJ World Industries LLC., presented an update from the survey. Hewitt is one of four cities they are working with to obtain a $5000 grant from Sourcewell and $5000 from USDA for an energy and environment project. If they can come up with another $5000, Sourcewell will match it.

The first meeting was held in December of 2021 and they planned what to include in the community survey. At the second meeting, the group reviewed the survey and drafted goals and set criteria. . .
