Future Management of Event Center Discussed

On October 28, the Wadena County Commissioners held a special meeting to discuss the future management of the county’s Event Center, formerly known as the 4-H building. Commissioner Jon Kangas was absent.

Over the years, various groups have used the building, but most existing leases have now expired. With recent state approval for renovations, organizations including the Friends of Wadena County Youth, local 4-H, and representatives from the University of Minnesota Extension—gathered to discuss next steps.

The Friends, a nonprofit group initially formed to raise funds for renovating the building, originally planned to dissolve after the renovations were completed. However, due to their 501(c)(3) status, they have offered to maintain representation on the board.

4-H representatives Heidi Mattson, Annie Olson, Julia Snyder, and Amber Horstman expressed their willingness to participate in managing the space to support 4-H activities and generate income for the organization...
