Highway Construction Update: Challenges, Surprises and Delays

Unfortunately, construction is like weather forecasts—we plan carefully, but surprises are part of the job. The project team has had some challenges, which require some adjustments to get the job done.

Progress has been impacted by a combination of weather delays, unexpected site conditions and needed revisions, putting us slightly behind schedule. We’re actively working to minimize further delays and to recover some of the lost days, but at this time we anticipate the Hwy. 71 closure to extend until mid-September. Hwy. 10 is currently on schedule, but the timeline is tight, so stay tuned.

Detour until mid-September: Hard closure from Hwy. 10 to Juniper Ave. Detour via Hwy. 10, Co. Rd. 20 and Juniper Ave.

To help improve access to businesses, we’re adding temporary alternate crossings to get east and west of Hwy. 71. These will be provided when possible at either Birch Ave., Cedar Ave., or Deerwood Ave., depending on the current operations...
