Honoring the Fallen

On Monday, May 25—Memorial Day—the Eagle Bend Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagle Bend American Legion held a solemn service honoring the fallen veterans at the GAR Cemetery in Eagle Bend. There was a rifle salute and Taps was played in honor of six local veterans who had recently passed away. Flags were also flown at half mast for those who had fallen which included: Dennis Berg, Dean Hetland, Gasper Wolf, Keith Gabler, Sam Cossentine and Al Thompson. A short program was held with readings done by Beverly Johnson, Cathy Riewer and Michaela Johnson. Riewer led the group in attendance in the National Anthem. Michaela Johnson played Taps.
