Lightning may have caused fire

On June 29, at approximately 7:42 p.m., the Todd County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible house fire in rural Browerville at 41349 County Road 7, owned by Geraldine Ricker. A 911 call was taken stating that a neighboring residence had possibly been struck by lightning and it was smoking. The fire was located in the attic area and was extinguished by the homeowner using a fire extinguisher. As a result, all occupants were safely removed from the residence and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed at this time. Todd County deputies, Staples and Browerville fire departments and the Lakewood Ambulance responded.
