News from Bertha and Hewitt's Pasts

Students in Bertha-Hewitt from preschool to sixth grade are involved in the new Bertha-Hewitt danceline. Sixth graders Amanda Kneisl and Britinie Borst are teaching the girls. The third through sixth graders involved are going to be performing at the Central Todd County Care Center on January 20.

Teacher Cathy Riewer shared they have been studying nutrition and working on a graduation standards that cover the essential components of the Personal Health Standard. The students are learning the importance of proper nutrition and how each nutrient helps the body and mind. Students compare different lunch menus and discuss the more nutritious meal. Students also have been testing foods for fats, sugar and designing their own menus.

75 Years Ago

January 4, 1951

The Rangers of Hewitt High School will swing into action on the basketball court again this week as they meet a team from Maynard, coached by Len Tritsch, former Hewitt High athlete. A close battle is anticipated and it is hoped that there will be a large turnout of fans.

Installation of a hydraulic hoist has recently been completed at the Hewitt Garage, Les Buchholz, owner, stated. The installation was done by George Jones.
