Vicar Blake Rickbeil has been teaching parishioners the word of God at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bertha and Trinity Lutheran in Hewitt since this past March. He said the synod which he is through can make exceptions and allow a vicar to become a pastor earlier. Rickbeil has had a vast amount of experience in Biblical studies from very rigorous seminary training at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to going on archaeological digs to being on the Board of Regions at Concordia, St. Paul.

August 5 was a day of celebration and dedication at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bertha. Bishop John Kinney, diocese of St. Cloud, came to Bertha on August 5 to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of St. Joseph’s catholic church’s current building.
75 Years Ago
August 9, 1951
When school opens less than a month from now there will be 31 high school boys for whom the transition from vacation to school won’t be too hard—they’ve been going to school at least on a part-time basis all summer. The 31 are members of Wallace McKay’s vocational agriculture classes.

Anton Schultz has been hired by the village of Bertha to replace the late Norm Crooks as constable, water department employee and general handyman.
