25 Years Ago

February 8, 1995

Molly Theil, daughter of Gary and Maureen Theil and Chad Rach, son of Paul and Cindy Rach were crowned 1995 Bertha-Hewitt Snow Days queen and king at special coronation activities on Tuesday, January 31. The couple reigned over the week long activities.

The Bertha-Hewitt seventh grade girls basketball team ended their season on December 20. They lost one game to a tough Pequot Lakes team in the Pillager tournament. One highlight of the year was winning the New York Mills tournament. The team consisted of Amy Nelson, Crystal Tindal, Katrinah Rach, Tracy Schultz, Karen Kalk, Susie Fosness, Amber Templin, Crystal Booen, Stacy Smith, Tiffany Grunwald, Jill Dolezal, Amanda Frisbie and Dawn Shaw.


75 Years Ago

February 8, 1945

C. D. Stewart arrived Saturday from Jackson and on Monday began his new duties as agricultural instructor in the local high school. Mr. Stewart, who is a graduate of the University Farm School, has taught for several years. He and Mrs. Stewart are staying at the G. K. Williams home until they can find living quarters.

From the Voice of the School: The biography of Betty Hof, known as Huffy to most of her friends, was born on April 1, April Fool’s Day. Her favorite pastime is reading and the “American” magazine and mystery books rank high. Some of her music favorites are Glenn Miller’s band, Bing Crosby’s singing and Irving Berlin’s compositions.
