Magnificent 7 set for State
by Coach Michael Arvidson
The Section 6A Individual tournament was held this past Saturday at Wadena.
The Raiders started out strong with a 9-2 quarterfinal round. Hudson Truax picked up the tech fall, Orran Hart the major decision, and Justin Olson a fall. Preston Captain avenged a loss from last week with a decision.
Big brother Deagen and David Revering earned quick falls. Blake Sumstad lost a decision to the eventual champion. Cayden Kimber rolled for the tech fall and Justin Koehn got the pin.
Carson Sanford went down, and Braden Shamp got the fall moving up a weight for the postseason. Nine wins plus a bye for Bennet Arceneau put ten guys into the semifinals.
The semifinals started with a battle of two high-ranked kids that went to Truax’s opponent before fortunes started to turn.
Hart earned a decision, Olson got the major decision, and Preston ran into the top ranked opponent to drop to the wrestlebacks.
Arceneau sparked the momentum and the boys continued to pass the torch as Arceneau, Deagen, Revering, and Kimber all secured falls. . .
