On the afternoon of Sunday, August 16, Duane and Joshua Bartels took AAL Branch 2845 members for a hayride. After the hayride, they had a wiener roast at the Clarissa Park.

Shoppers took advantage of the crazy bargains at Clarissa Drug and many other businesses in town. Winners of the Clarissa Bucks given out in the Commercial Club drawing were Danny Sovich, Gail Hubbard, Millie Gilbertson and Joan Peterson of Clarissa and Michelle Rausch of Eagle Bend.

50 Years Ago

June 8, 1973

Ben Kotval returned this past weekend from Washington, D.C. where he attended a Citizenship Short Course at the National 4-H Center. Ben was one of four delegates from Todd County to participate in the course. During the summer more than 6000 teenage 4-H members from 42 states attended. Last week 93 delegates attended from Minnesota.

Gene Lindquist’s retirement from an office in the American Legion was short lived as this past week Lindquist received two appointments to serve on two different committees for the American Legion. One is a national appointment, the other is a state appointment.
