25 Years Ago

June 8, 1995

On Tuesday, May 30, at about 11:50 a.m., a pickup truck driven by Lewis Dresow of Eagle Bend, descending the hill on East 7th Street, left the road and crashed through the brick wall of Duane Sweet’s former car wash building. Neither Dresow nor his passenger, Elsie Frank, were injured. According to Police Chief Corey Heid, Dresow said he could not get the truck out of gear.

The fourth grade class at Browerville Public School collected 6107 Campbell’s Soup labels and 118 pounds of pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families with sick children that have to be hospitalized.


75 Years Ago

June 9, 1945

Eight students will complete their work of the eighth grade at St. Peter’s Parochial and receive their diplomas at the close of the school term this week. They are: Ronald Wolter, Urban Kuntz, Giles Motzko, Vern Koval, Phillip Host, Clarette Host, Noreen Peschl and Barbara Ann Becker.

Twenty-one pupils of St. Joseph’s Parochial School will receive their diplomas at commencement exercises on Sunday, June 3, at Paderewski Hall at 8 p.m. They are: August Arbeiter, Maureen Bartylla, Sophie Buhl, Doris Drayna, Arnold Geela, Clarence Feela, Richard Gonsior, Jacqueline John, Dorothy Kaluza, Robert Kiselewski, Wilford Luckas, Herbert May, Bernadette Opelia, Larry Ostrowski, Genevive Petron, Arliss Plotnik, Phyllis Poplinski, Robert Schenk, Joan Solga, Doris Zigan and Helen Petron.
