Browerville Fire Chief Bill Buhl accepted an award on behalf of the entire fire department at the June 8 city council meeting. The award was presented for meritorious and professional service in their handling of the Holt murder/suicide in May of this year.

Congratulations are due to six members of the Tigers 2000 Softball Team, chosen as Prairie Conference ‘All Conference Players’. They are Kim Slaver, MerriAnn Werder, Lindsey Michael, Paula Zigan, Kelly Spandl and Kim Foote. Lindsey Michael is MVP.

June 15, 1950
Todd County Commissioners, meeting in regular session the first of last week, opened the bids for the bituminous surfacing of the Staples-Browerville road, with the result that one of the bids was accepted. The bid of W. Hodgeman and Son of Fairmont in the sum of $90,968 was the bid accepted by the commissioners and this bid is 19 percent lower than the estimated costs of the road engineers who prepared the blue prints for submitting to potential bidders.

Frederick L. Heid, son of Mrs. Lulu Heid of Browerville, a junior at the University of Minnesota, will attend a six-week ROTC Summer Camp at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, beginning June 11. Cadet Heid, an Army veteran, will participate in a variety of field exercises designed to develop his leadership ability and increase his technical knowledge.
