25 Years Ago

Twenty Browerville Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the areas largest vocational students organization conference in Fargo on Sunday, April 1-Tuesday, April 3. Over 2000 FBLA members from 78 different schools attended the 34th annual conference at the Fargo Ramada. The Browerville FBLA placed 30th out of the 78 schools improving on their 65th place finish a year ago. Earning the opportunity to represent Browerville at the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 27-July2 are Ryan Baron, first place in Computer Applications; and Kari Marquardt, first place in Accounting 1.

MerriAnne Werder was selected as the MSHSL Sub Section 22 AAA winner, and was awarded the Region 6A female winner at a banquet held in Fergus Falls. MerriAnne and her parents Larry and Christy Werder participated in the MSHSL State AAA Banquet held on March 21 at the Excel Arena in St. Paul.

April 12, 1951

Farmers today face a situation of greatest demand for food production while costs for their 1951 crops are highest and prospects for a net return on their hourly efforts are lower than in past years, John Brandt, president of Land O’ Lakes creameries, reported. Brandt cited the latest available figures which showed the average price of agricultural production about eight percent below the average peak proven for these products during the years 1944-1949.

A special election will be held by Hartford Township next Tuesday, April 17. At the regular election held March 13, Joseph Gorghuber and Joseph Hanych were tied for the office of supervisor with 47 votes each. Gorghuber has been the supervisor for the past three years.
