Jenni Pachan and Sarah Hoelscher represented the city of Browerville at the League of Minnesota Cities annual conference held in Duluth, June 19-22. Both girls were selected by the Browerville Public School based upon their participation in numerous school activities. They will be seniors this fall. Included in their activities are athletics, music, peer helpers, the Future Business Leaders of America and the Blandin Foundation program in Todd County. While at the conference they will meet with their peers from throughout Minnesota and participate in sessions with an emphasis on youth.

The canoe races on Saturday started at the County Road 90 bridge, south of town, and ended at the County Road 14 bridge, east of town. In the adult competition the winners were: first place-Jeff Steinert/Jeff Cebulla, 28:58; second place-Tom Holt/Mike Dreger, 33:32; third place-Marty Mueller/Dave Rieland, 34:45; and fourth place-John Tschida/Gene Tschida Jr., 38:40.

75 Years Ago

July 5, 1951

Last Sunday, Browerville traveled to Carlos and handed the Carlos boys an 8-7 defeat. The game was rugged all the way. Browerville collected two runs in the first inning on a double by Frank and singles by Olin, Mace, Jonckowski and a double by Hamper. The boys collected one more in the third when Olin scored on Hamper’s single. Jack Dressen opened the fourth with a line drive over the left field fence.

Miss Helen Arbea, field representative for the Minnesota Public Health Association, stopped here on June 26. She is traveling in several counties to confer with the local Christmas Seal volunteer workers. In Browerville, Mrs. Clifford Johnson is the new local Christmas Seal chairman, the field worker announced. The local treasurer is Robert lee.
