The 2001 Todd County Dairy Princess Sonja Stoterau took a minute from her busy schedule at the Todd County Fair to sit for a photo with State Senator Dallas Sams and State Representative Mary Ellen Otremba after the milking contest that was held Saturday afternoon. Dallas Sams won the contest.

The 4-H Poultry Show was held at the Todd County Fair on Wednesday afternoon, July 11. Hannah Bromeling of the Lone Star 4-H Club of Browerville was named Champion Poultry Exhibitor with her Bantam Breeding Pen of Chickens. Reserve Champion Poultry Exhibit honors went to a Bantam Breeding Pen of Chickens exhibited by Matthew Bromeling, Lone Star, Browerville.

Several farmers northeast of Browerville suffered considerable hail damage to their crops last Sunday afternoon. Hail the size of baseballs was reported. Louis Benning informed us that some hail measured 12 inches in circumference. Al Poplinski reported one that was 11 inches in circumference at his cottage at Thunder Lake.

With little more than three weeks remaining until the opening of the 68th annual Todd County Fair, the grounds are being readied for the annual show. The buildings are being cleaned and renovated; and this week advertisement announcing the fair dates, August 7-8-9, were being distributed throughout the county.
