Anthony Murch gave airplane rides out of the Clarissa Airport during the town’s summer celebration on Saturday. At only $12 per ride, many area youngsters got their first time in the air, including: Kyle Wagner, Chris Marquedant and Anthony Wagner. The boys said their ride was “cool.”

Chelsey Konetzko of Browerville was awarded the Campanile Scholarship for the 2001-2002 school year at South Dakota State University. Konetzko will be a freshman pre-pharmacy major at SDSU this fall. She is the daughter of Lee and Kathy Konetzko of Browerville and is a graduate of Browerville High School. She has been active in band, choir, jazz band, pop singers, senior women, the three-act play, the annual staff, Education Now and Babies Later, peer helpers, volleyball, girl scouts and student council.

July 26, 1951

Frank L. King, U.S. Defense Bonds Chairman for Todd County, will participate Friday in an all-day conference at the Nicollet Hotel, Minneapolis, designed to aid in the planning of the national defense bond campaign which opens Labor Day. Mr. King will be one of the 90 persons attending the meeting. To take part are county and district bond chairmen and state and national bond officials.

The management of the Todd County Fair, to be held August 7-9, is again highlighting the entertainment side of the fair. They promise fun for the youngsters as well as the Old Settlers at the annual summer festival of the county, whether you attend the fair to see the exhibits, to enjoy the grandstand show or take in the midway. The grandstand show will again be provided by the DeWaldo Booking Agency and promises a varied program including the famous Rudynoff Circus Horses, a trained seal act, brilliant aerialists direct from the Ringling Circus.
