25 Years Ago

August 16, 2001

The Todd County Youth Advisory Council co-sponsored a ‘Summer Blast Teen Dance’ last Thursday at the Clarissa Ballroom. Teens could get a discount on the price of admission if they brought a copy of a tobacco or alcohol ad. The Youth Advisory Council hopes to involve teens with alcohol and tobacco free activities.

Saturday, August 11, was a beautiful day for the second annual Browerville Sportsman’s river float. It was enjoyed by everyone—the ages were from 13-79. A potluck lunch was shared by all at Jerry Kotula’s on Horseshoe Lake. Another one is planned for next August.

75 Years Ago

August 16, 1951

The American Legion held their regular meeting at the city hall the first Wednesday in August. Installation of new officers took place. They are Ray Woodars, commander; Herman Holler, vice commander; Walter Horstman, adjutant; and John Hudally, finance officer. Peter Kiselewski gave a report on the state convention at Mankato which he attended.

Folks of Browerville and around the vicinity will have another opportunity to enter their children in a photo contest in which a total of $500 in cash prizes will be given away. This contest will be held at the local Brenny’s Store. A photographer who specializes in children’s photography will be here to take the pictures on Wednesday, August 22. Children up to 13 years old may enter.
