25 Years Ago

January 25, 1996

Members of the Todd County Chapter of Pheasants Forever met on Tuesday, January 16 in Long Prairie. The main item on the agenda was the election of officers for 1996. Pictured in the photo are Bob Kaufman, secretary; Blair Anderson, president; Kevin Smith, vice president; and Doug Schmidt, treasurer.

There was a good crowd on hand for the Browerville-Long Prairie match on Monday. Long Prairie has a fine team and many fans were expecting a blowout. But the Tigers had lots of hustle and gave the fans an exciting time. There were many close matches, but the Tigers lost by a score of 45 to 18. Tom Brown wrestling at 119# won his match over Determan from Long Prairie 7-4. Smokey Skillings wrestling at 125# did not fare as well losing to Thom 2-13.

The Tigers were defeated by the Henning Hornets last Tuesday 50-62. The Hornets jumped to a 14-7 first-quarter lead and never trailed. The Hornets led at the half by 10. Pacing the Tigers was Brent Field with 17 points.

The Browerville Lion’s Club will serve their annual pancake breakfast this Sunday—Super Sunday—at the new community center. The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children under 12. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, milk, visiting, and fun.
