Still reeling from the sting of the Land O’ Lakes tax settlement which will cost the city up to $30,000 a year in revenue, the Browerville City Council voted to table the West 6th Street project until they have time to review financing. There is not enough money in the general fund to cover the project’s cost even though bids came in at $10,000 below the engineer’s estimate of $72,420.
In observance of Arbor Day, Kerri Johnson, Zeph Marsh, and Connie Cebulla handed out white spruce tree seedlings and conservation material at Christ the King School. Tyler Hoelscher and Sarah Desotell lined up to receive their trees.
Steve Lieser was pictured trying out a bike, one of the many items offered for sale, at the rummage sale held in the gym at Christ the King School. All monies received from the sale went to the technology fund for the school.
Browerville swept a doubleheader with St. John’s at the Browerville field on April 30. The Tigers won 7-3 and 14-0. Mike Hager picked up the victory in the 7-3 win. Hager struck out three, walked one, and gave up six hits in five innings. Jeff Werder had a home run and two RBIs. Brent Field collected a home run and drove in three runs.
