Miller Focuses on Faith, Youth and Community

Pam Miller of Alexandria has taken on a new role as a Synod Authorized Minister (SAM) for the Highway 71 Lutherans after a long career in healthcare and years of church involvement. She officially started on July 1, following her introduction to the congregation in June, including their summer program for children called JAM (Jesus and Me).
Miller, who grew up in Alexandria and has an accounting degree from Southwest State University, returned to her hometown with her husband, Dave, when their three sons were young. She worked at Alexandria Clinic, which later became part of Alomere Health, and eventually served as director of operations.
After retiring just before the COVID-19 pandemic, she felt drawn to a new purpose.
“I’ve been involved in church activities since I was confirmed,” Miller said.
A retreat helped her deepen her spiritual calling, leading her to complete a year of spiritual direction training at St. John’s and earn a certificate in Christian ministries from Luther Seminary.
She then coordinated adult ministry at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, but was later laid off due to budget cuts. Despite this, she saw it as part of a greater plan...
