The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on March 17 at the Menahga Senior Center.

The commissioners gave the go-ahead for Friendly Rider to start looking for bids on a new transit building. This is a big step in a project that has been talked about for a long time.

Transit Director Randy Jahnke updated the commissioners on the project’s progress. The planning and designing stage is almost done, and a detailed plan has been created with help from architects, engineers, and state inspectors. The plans are currently being reviewed by state officials. Now that the board has approved advertising for bids, Jahnke hopes to move transit services temporarily to a different county building around mid-April, aiming to be in the new facility by December, depending on the bid results and final approvals.

The actual decision on who gets the contracts will come back to the board later...
