New signage welcomes you

by Debra Meyer-Myrum
As you drive on Highway 71 through the city of Browerville, you may have noticed there is a new digital sign on the north end of town. The sign will be operational as soon as the electrical connection is completed.
Area residents may be wondering why a new sign was installed since there already was one on the south end of town.
In 2021, MnDOT was surveying Highway 71 to prepare for the new bridge replacements that were to take place. It was discovered that the Browerville city sign on the north end of town was located on the Highway 71 right-of-way, so therefore, would need to be removed.
The sign was constructed of wood and was showing its age. It would not have fared well being taken down and moved. It was then decided that a new sign, similar to the one on the south end of town, would be installed.
The city administrator began to research a location for the new sign and funding to support the construction of it....
