Pasture walk in Verndale

The Sustainable Farming Association (SFA) and the Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship (DGA) are partnering to host a pasture walk in Verndale. The pasture walk is a great opportunity for people to connect and learn with fellow grazers. It is free to attend and open to all. Lunch will be served. Advance registration is encouraged to secure lunch and walk-ups are welcome to attend as well.

The pasture walk will be held on August 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Seven Pines Farm, 18618 County Road 23, Verndale.

Angie Walter, the Central Minnesota Education Coordinator for SFA and DGA, will lead the pasture walk with farmer host Mikayla Birschbach, who is in her last six months of apprenticeship at Seven Pines. Birschbach is apprenticing with Kent and Linda Solberg, who will also be present to share their experiences.

Discussion topics will include raising calves on pasture, fencing and panels used to raise calves and managing pastures with drought conditions.

More information and resources can be found on the SFA website. Angie Walter can be reached at angie@sfa-mn.org.
