Petermeier is inducted into Coaches Hall Of Fame

“My dad told me at an early age, ‘If you love what you do… it’s not a job,’” recalled Wayne “Ribsy” Petermeier.

With that sentiment in mind, Petermeier, who has been a teacher and coach for the past 36 years, hasn’t worked a “job.”

“I knew when I was a junior in high school that I wanted to be an elementary teacher and coach. That coaching experience started in 1988 when Melrose Head Football Coach Daryl Oja offered me a one-year deal as a varsity assistant football coach and teacher at Melrose High School,” he said.

From that point on, he also fell in love with the coaching side of football.

He had plenty of experience playing football as he played until he graduated from Melrose High School in 1983 and then went on to play at the University of Minnesota Morris where he played as a wide receiver, punter and holder for the Cougars....
