Playground Removed

Superintendent Jeannie Mayer gave an update on the playground project. She explained that the existing playground equipment was removed over the weekend.

Mayer explained the current financial picture for the new playground. Community donations to date total $51,701.67. The school has contributed $92,001.88 from its unassigned fund balance, and an additional $17,812 has come from the operating levy, and there was $110,000 in Long-Term Facility Maintenance (LTFM) funds the board had previously discussed.

The remaining amount to cover is $33,921, plus the cost of the turf and any additional items that still need to be ordered. Board Member Chris Youngbauer, who has been closely involved with the details of the project, will share more specific information about the turf and any remaining orders when those details are finalized.

Mayer reported the 501(c)(3) fundraising efforts has about $33,000 in its account ready to transfer to the school. In addition, they are still waiting on several larger pledged donations, including a few $5,000 gifts and a $2,500 gift, as well as proceeds from a summer raffle. With those expected funds, board members noted that the group will be approaching $100,000 in total fundraising, which they described as a strong community effort.

Once the project reaches its final funding point, the district will compile and share a clear summary of all contributions and school support so the community can see the full impact of its fundraising and the total cost picture for the new playground...
